Combined Heat and Power Sources

Combined heat and power sources and products are truly providing the plan, Stan, to set us free...from dependence on the large, monopolistic utility companies. The products that use biomass gasification are especially intriguing in the massive amount of power and clean burning that they provide. And what's really exciting is that there are so many alternative, flexible ways this energy source can be utilized--not only for the home in the form of electricity but also for powering vehicles.

Biomass gasification: a two hundred year old technology, older than the light bulb, ahead of the technological curve, the only source of clean reliable power, day or night, rain or shine, even when there is no breeze!

The Future of Biomass Energy

Gasification is a thermal process that converts biomass into an energy rich gas by heating the solid fuel under controlled conditions. Unlike combustion, which fully converts a feedstock into heat and ash, gasification processes control the conversion so that most of the combustion does not take place directly. Instead, the material is converted into a readily used gas fuel called producer gas, that can be used to run a reciprocating engine, boiler or even gas turbine.
The technology itself is not new. It was being used to produce “town gas” from coal in many cities in the 19th century and became widely used as a result of fuel shortages during the Second World War where gasifiers were often fitted to vehicles running on charcoal, providing the fuel for over a million vehicles.
